What boat rental contracts does Corsica Yacht Charter use?
When you are ready to confirm your luxury yacht charter, we draw up a contract in your name. This is either a standard Santarelli Marine contract for short charters or the MYBA (Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association) contract, which is recognized in the luxury yachting industry. This contract governs the relationship between you (the charterer), the boat owner, the broker, and the central agent. It is validated by a renowned maritime law firm in London and is the standard for all professional yacht charters.
What is included in yacht charter fees?
The rates quoted for your private yacht charter are based on MYBA standards. This means that the charter boat is delivered ready to sail, with all its equipment, a qualified crew, and comprehensive insurance. The price also includes the crew, access to onboard facilities, water toys, and leisure equipment. You don't have to worry about crew costs, as these are covered by the owner. All rates are standardized, but we can provide a quote if certain owners agree to negotiate, particularly for rentals lasting several weeks.
What is the cash advance for onboard expenses when renting a boat?
The onboard cash advance is an advance covering the operating expenses of the vessel during your private boat cruise: fuel, food, beverages, local taxes, ports, water, and electricity. It represents approximately 35% of the yacht rental price. Any unused balance will be refunded to you at the end of the cruise. If expenses exceed this amount (which is rare), an adjustment will be made before disembarkation.
Is VAT applicable to boat rentals?
Yes, VAT applies depending on your sailing area and the itinerary of your boat rental. Your broker will advise you according to the tax regulations in force in the country concerned.
What are the payment terms for renting a yacht?
When booking your luxury yacht, you will be required to pay a 50% deposit upon signing the contract. The balance, the cash advance for on-board expenses, and, if applicable, a security deposit, must be paid no later than 30 days before embarkation. For any booking made less than 30 days in advance, the full amount of the contract will be required upon signing the contract.
Can I cancel my boat rental in case of bad weather?
The yacht charter agreement provides for cancellation only in cases of force majeure: unforeseeable and uncontrollable events such as major breakdowns that cannot be repaired within 24 hours or political unrest. In the event of unfavorable weather conditions, the charter will not be canceled, but we may offer to change the dates or itinerary depending on the availability of the boat.
Where can I embark for my yacht charter?
We prioritize boats for rent that are already based in the city or port of your choice. If the yacht is located elsewhere, delivery fees may apply. These fees will be specified in advance, before the final reservation is made.
Is it customary to tip the crew?
It is customary in the luxury yacht charter industry to tip the crew if you are fully satisfied with your cruise. It is not mandatory, but we generally recommend an amount between 5% and 10% of the charter fee, excluding the onboard cash box.
How is my private cruise program organized?
As soon as your boat rental is confirmed, we will send you a preferences form. This allows the crew to personalize your experience on board: dietary requirements, allergies, habits, desired activities, etc. The more specific you are, the more tailor-made your cruise will be.
Can I bring my pet on board the boat?
It depends on the yacht and the owner's decision. In most cases, pets are not allowed on board. However, special permission may be granted, often with an additional security deposit. Please feel free to ask us about this.
Coastal shipping
How to book your slow cruise in coastal mode?
Would you like to enjoy a tailor-made slow cruise experience? Once we have worked out the details of your coastal itinerary together, we will send you a personalized quote.
To confirm your reservation, a deposit of 50% of the total amount will be required. The final balance must be paid no later than 30 days before the departure date of your slow cruise.
At what age can children embark on a slow cruise?
Children are welcome on board our coastal cruises, but to ensure everyone's safety and peace of mind, we do not accept babies on board the RIBs used for slow cruises.
We recommend this maritime experience for children aged 6 and above, as this is the age at which children can fully enjoy a cruise on a RIB.
What is the cancellation policy for a low-cost slow cruise?
Safety at sea is a priority for our eco-friendly cruises. That's why we continuously monitor marine weather conditions via several reliable sources in France and Italy.
In the event of adverse weather conditions, we will offer you either:
- a free postponement of your cruise,
- or a full refund.
Please note: cancellation policies for partner accommodations may vary. These will be clearly specified before your slow cruise is confirmed.

Why choose a luxury private cruise over a luxury hotel in Corsica or Sardinia?
A private cruise embodies pure luxury: it combines the intimacy of a floating palace with the freedom to explore a new coastal gem in Corsica or Sardinia every day. Unlike a hotel, you are never confined to one place: you can access inaccessible coves, have lunch in a wild bay, then spend the night facing Bonifacio or Porto Cervo, in complete exclusivity. You also benefit from a dedicated crew, personalized cuisine, and private water sports activities, all without compromising on comfort or elegance.
