:Calanques de Piana.

In the heart of Corsica, where red rocks glow in the setting sun, the Calanques de Piana tell a love story frozen in time...

Calanques of Piana and Arone

It is by sea, by boat, that the Calanques de Piana reveal themselves to visitors: ochre and purple rocks, shaped by the wind and the centuries, stand like sculptures. A mineral world where time seems to stand still and where the almost unreal blue sea invites you to take a dip.

Calanques de Piana by boat

The legend of the Calanques de Piana

Once upon a time, there was a young shepherdess named Sperenza, whose beauty was so radiant that it was said to make the cliffs blush. Every day, she would climb up to the Calanques de Piana to graze her goats, singing to the mountain spirits. One day, a young shepherd from Niolu named Carulu heard her singing and fell madly in love. Their secret trysts, amid red granite and flowering myrtle, became their refuge.

But not everyone was happy about this passion. The ancient gods, jealous of this pure and human love, decided to punish them. One evening, as Sperenza and Carulu embraced in a clearing suspended between sky and sea, a bolt of lightning split the sky. The lovers were instantly petrified, transformed into two human-shaped rocks.

Since then, the Calanques de Piana have been home to strange silhouettes: a woman with a tender gaze, a protective man, frozen for eternity. At sunset, their outlines glow, as if to remind us that love, even when betrayed by the gods, can defy time.
